Artcrank Seattle 2014

July 26, 2014

Once again, I had the honor of participating in the 2014 version of the Artcrank show in Seattle. This time, the show was at the Fred Wildlife Refuge. It’s a nice space and some of the proceeds were donated to the venue.

I had a hard time designing this piece because I had other freelance gigs going on at the time and I was out of town for a few days. I honestly can say that I designed this poster at hotels, planes and layovers. It’s ok, I’m happy with the outcome.

If you are interested in buying a copy, please visit my store.

Artcrank

July 9, 2013

I was invited to be part of this year’s Artcrank show in Seattle, which is a combination of three things I love, bikes, posters and beer. Needless to say, I was super stoked. For my poster, I decided to do a Tigre riding a fixie (which I don’t ride, I like my brakes!)

Here are some pictures of my poster which by the way, you can get at my store.

AIGA Seattle

June 23, 2012

This year the AIGA Seattle is celebrating its 25th year anniversary. To celebrate, AIGA threw a party, along with an exhibition called The Future of Design. I designed a poster for the event. My poster is based on the idea that no matter when, the main idea of a design, it will always start with a simple sketch.

It All Starts With A Sketch

And Here is the sketch of the sketch poster.

It all started like this.

In addition, I invited my good friend Emiliano Molina to be part of the project. He has been a good friend of mine for years and he is also an excellent industrial/graphic designer. Check out his poster.

In a Bossa Nova Mood

June 28, 2011

Here’s a new CD I designed and Illustrated for Starbucks. It’s a cool collection of classic and modern Bossa Nova. I tried to represent the cadence of the music through the use of vibrant, bold colors. The packaging tells the store of a muse, the modern take on the classic muse portrayed in the old Bossa records. My good friend Francesca Merlini helped me with the concept and wrote some of the copy. And if that wasn’t enough, her band Passarim is also featured in the CD.

Do yourselves a favor and pick up a copy of this cool CD at your local Starbucks. More pics on my website.

Recycled Tumblers

February 12, 2010

The new set of tumblers is out. I did these last year, it was a long process, there were some issues with the printing; registration, overprints, knockouts, trappings and what not. The cool thing about these tumblers is that they are recyclable, so the design is all about being green. The copy is great, it has some cool stories and clever messaging. My buddy, the talented Jessica Hagy wrote the whole damn thing. So here is the whole set, 8oz, 12oz, 16oz and 20oz.

Dr. Alderete

October 25, 2008

So the day I picked up my Zoveck toy, I also picked up the great book “Yo soy un Don Nadie” by the great Dr. Alderete. If you don’t know Alderete’s work, man you are missing out, check out some of his poster work and be amazed.

I asked Jorge to sign me a copy and to my surprise he not only signed it, but he drew a cool skull on it! Check it out!

Zoveck Toys

October 22, 2008

Today was super exciting, I went to Tether to pick up some things that we ordered for the “Dia de Muertos” show. And I got a very pleasant surprise, my buddy “El Valiente” sent me the coolest present:

El Valiente recently launched a ver cool toy from Ledy Ledy, the first vinyl toy company in Mexico. The figure is called Zulema Zelena, a siamese trapeze artist from the circus, it doesn’t get any better than that!

By the way, a very thorough process was posted in the Ledy Ledy website, it shows how the figure was created, from concept to final box layout, logo sketches, etc. Great great work overall.

Here is my collection of Zoveck toys, with the newest addition Zulema Zelena:

Zopilote Ramirez Surf, Zopilote Ramirez, San-to, San-to V.2, Zulema Zelena

Modern Dog

March 19, 2008

Last January my good pals from Modern Dog presented their new book at the Henry Art Gallery at the UW. The event was pretty cool, saw old friends and enjoyed some good stories about poster design. The book is very cool and has a bunch of pictures, even my dog is in there! here are some pics.

Here is Mike, Robynne, Me and Vitto.
