Once again, I had the honor of participating in the 2014 version of the Artcrank show in Seattle. This time, the show was at the Fred Wildlife Refuge. It’s a nice space and some of the proceeds were donated to the venue.
I had a hard time designing this piece because I had other freelance gigs going on at the time and I was out of town for a few days. I honestly can say that I designed this poster at hotels, planes and layovers. It’s ok, I’m happy with the outcome.
If you are interested in buying a copy, please visit my store.

We took part once again in the SVC’s Wayzgoose & Steamroller Smackdown. For those of you who don’t know what The Smackdown is, here is the skinny from the SVC’s website:
“The 12th Annual Wayzgoose will take place at the School of Visual Concepts on September 7, 2013 from 1-6pm. Come see the Letterpress Marketplace, where local printers will be selling their goods, the Letterpress Equipment Swap, hands-on demonstrations and keepsake printing in the SVC Letterpress Studio, and the Steamroller Smackdown, featuring 16 design teams competing to print the coolest poster using a giant steamroller instead of a printing press.
The Letterpress Studio at SVC has always been an intersection of historical and active practice. We are not just another program teaching a lost art; we are dedicated to preserving this craft through active engagement of the community, a de facto working museum. To that end, our inspiration for this yearās Steamroller Smackdown are the other local museums, the keepers of our cultural heritage. This yearās event will forge a link between these conservators of culture and the interpreters of culture: our illustrious design community. Our spirited design teams have been paired with a cultural muse.”
Our team was paired with the awesome EMP Music + Science Fiction Museum. If you haven’t been, you should check it out. During our visit to the EMP, two of the things that got my attention were David Bowie’s costume from Labyrinth and the mask from the Monster from the Black Lagoon. So I came up with a sketch that I think speaks to both things, the Sci-Fi and the Music. And the Bowie Creature was born. Here are some pictures from the process. If you would like to see more, you can also check out the Letterpress at SVC pool on Flickr.

I was invited to be part of this year’s Artcrank show in Seattle, which is a combination of three things I love, bikes, posters and beer. Needless to say, I was super stoked. For my poster, I decided to do a Tigre riding a fixie (which I don’t ride, I like my brakes!)
Here are some pictures of my poster which by the way, you can get at my store.

Back in January I had the chance for theĀ second timeĀ to go to Mexico CityĀ to print some posters with the great Arturo Negrete over at Taller 75 Grados. It was a lot of fun and I got to print two posters. The first one is calledĀ TigreĀ and it’s based on the the traditional tiger masks from Guerrero, Mexico. The second one is calleCalavera y AguaĀ and it’s a little more abstract. The posters are 4 inks and printed on heavy stock paper, limited edition of 80, signed and numbered. If you would like to purchase a poster you can visit myĀ store.
