I recently did the packaging, illustration and hand lettering for the latest Starbucks compilation cd. It’s called Duke Ellington: In Gran Company. This album features Duke Ellington performing with various artists such as Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, John Coltrane and Count Basie. It’s a great album, you can get it at your local Starbucks. I had a blast designing this one, from the hand-drawn type (which I love to do) to the diecuts and varnishes. I think it came out pretty good.

I’ll be printing some posters in Mexico City this Sunday January 6th. I’ve printed posters there before and it was a lot of fun.
I’ll post some pictures soon. In the meantime, here’s the flyer.

This is a cool project I did a while back and is now out for sale at the stores and online.
It’s the 2012 Starbucks® Advent Calendar. The calendar comes with a piece of chocolate inside every door and 5 special offers.

A few weeks ago I was invited by Revolution Books to do a show for the Day of the Dead. Since this is my favorite holiday I of course said yes. I will be showing some ink drawings and a couple of posters and painting. So if you are in the Seattle area, come to Pioneer Square and say hi. Here is the Facebook Event, feel free to share.
The reception is on November 1st at 6pm. 89 S. Washington Street Seattle, WA 98104, phone: 206-325-7415

This is an illustration for the new Starbucks Shade Grown Mexico coffee bag. The illustration features a Chiapaneca woman with a traditional gala dress standing in one of the main plazas in Chiapas. I had a lot of fun with this one, the Chiapas dress is one of the most beautiful and colorful dresses in Mexican culture. Unfortunately this bag is only for sale in Mexico and not in the U.S.

Some people asked me to put my illustration of the Stachequatch on a shirt. So I did. I put it up on threadless and is up for vote now. If you want a shirt, make sure you go and vote “5” to get it printed. It’s really easy, you can sign in with Fecebook too. I would appreciate it, thanks!

This is a poster I did for Radio Mórbido‘s first anniversary. I was asked to do a poster with zombies in it. I have never tried to do zombies before, so I was kinda excited/scared. I wanted to make the zombie a little scary, a little more realistic but still in a comic/movie poster style. This is also the first time I tried this style and technique, I inked the whole thing in photoshop straight on to the computer. The color was also done in photoshop.
I was pretty pleased with the result, I might try to do some more illustrations with this technique and style. Hope you like it.

For this year’s SVC’s Wayzgoose & Steamroller Smackdown, the studio decided to continue our theme of mythical creatures. So I decided to do a Sasquatch. Initially, I did a rough sketch of a sasquatch, but I felt it needed something else, so after talking to a couple of friends, we came up with the Stachesquatch.
Here are some pics of the process and the event. We didn’t win this year, (there were some amazing posters out there) but I’m sure next year we will take our title back!

Here is a little type treatment I did for Ten Paces and Draw. This illustration is for the character remix series. Last time I did The Bride from Kill Bill. This time the theme was Star Wars, the character I chose was Han Solo. This is my rendition of the biggest controversy of all regarding Han Solo. The truth is HAN SHOT FIRST. Period. By the way, I was not alone on this one, the other three illustrators picked the exact same phrase! Totally different styles! Here is mine, along with the initial sketch. Also, if you try really really hard you can kinda see something in the smoke.

I finally decided to put out a limited edition of the Godzilla Sushi poster I designed a couple of years ago with my buddy Jeff Wilkson.
This is a 2 color screen-printed poster. The poster came out great, it was printed by the great Rick Goral over at Row Boat Press.
A lot of people liked it, it got into HOW, Comm Arts, PRINT, etc. and a lot of people asked me for a copy. So here it is. You can but it at my BigCartel Store.
